                    Special Outings

We routinely organise varied outings to support the curriculum ie: visits to local farms to see the lambs in Spring and nature walks in the woods nearby.  Parental consent for outings is required and there is a section in the registration form for your signature.

                    Dress

Children should be dressed in clothes that are suitable for pre-school activities and which encourages their independence i.e. avoid fiddly belts or laces. We also would ask that the children wear clothes in which they may get dirty as our children are encouraged to experiment with paint, glue, sand, water etc. As this is a vital part of their learning and development!  Streatley Hill Pre-school Sweatshirts are available to buy however these are not compulsory. Throughout the winter months each child should bring wellies in a named bag (not plastic carrier bag) and in summer we recommend a hat and that sunscreen be applied before pre-school. We also recommend a change of clothing.  Open-toed sandals and jewellery should be avoided for safety reasons.

                    Diet and Allergies

Please let us know if your child has any diet concerns or allergies.  We usually offer milk or water at snack time along with fruit or biscuits. If your child needs to bring their own snack/drink please ensure it is in a container clearly marked with their name.

                    Complaints

We hope that any issues that you have can be resolved by raising the matter with the Pre School Leader.  However if you feel that this is not successful please raise the matter with the Pre School Chair, Clare Potter on 01491 875 247 or directly with Ofsted Early Years.

                    Attendance

If for some reason your child cannot attend a session please call the pre-school and let the Lead Teacher know.

                    Illness

We expect parents to use their own judgement and consideration regarding illness. However if you child has had sickness and/or diarrhoea we ask that they be free of symptoms for 24 hrs before returning to preschool in the interest of others.  Where antibiotics have been prescribed, we ask that the child has been treated for 48 hours before returning to pre-school.

                    First Aid and Emergencies

If you child has a minor incident we administer first aid and record the incident on the child’s accident record sheet. We will tell you or the child’s carer about it when the child is collected and ask for a signature in the book.  If there is a more serious incident we take immediate steps to gain medical attention and contact you or the child’s carer.

                    Behaviour Management

If a child’s behaviour is unacceptable we will ask the child to stop and explain why.  If unacceptable behaviour continues, an adult will then try to move them on to an alternative activity and discuss the matter with the parent when the child is collected.

                    Safety and Security

Please arrive promptly so that the Lead Teacher can start the session on time. The pre-school door is secured after the session starts, please ring the doorbell for attention.   We need to know who is authorised to collect your child, if it is not the usual carer, please sign in the book at pre-school.  We ask that you be prompt collecting your child however if you are unavoidably delayed, please call us.

                    Special Needs

The number of adults present in the pre-school enables us to support each child to progress at his/her own rate in all areas of development and this is true for children with and without disabilities or learning difficulties.  We liaise with professionals across the range of special needs and have a SEN policy and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).  Please do not hesitate to contact us, in confidence, if you would like to discuss the pre-school’s ability to meet your own child’s needs.

                    Equal Opportunities

We welcome children regardless of all ethnic group, religion, gender or needs.  We try to reflect the multi-cultural nature of our society through our toys, the books we use and activities we arrange.  We very much appreciate parental support to help us understand where any child may need extra support in adjusting to our language or cultural changes
