Communication
Good communication is essential for parents, staff and committee. There are a number of methods we use:
Formal Parents Evenings are arranged termly giving you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their Key-Person and see their development records. These written observations are available to you at any time. Staff are always happy to discuss any concerns before or after sessions however we do ask that an appointment is booked for any lengthy or private discussions.
Special Parent Evenings are arranged about once a term for groups of parents to attend to find out about specific aspects of Pre-School. For example many of our parents have attended a “hands on” evening explaining the way children learn and the new government guidelines for Early Years.
Feed back Forms – these are usually given out after a “special” evening and occasionally a t other times as we welcome everyone’s comments on these events and what sort of events might be found useful in the future.
Newsletter - published monthly updating you on pre-school news and fundraising events.
Buddy System - When your child starts pre-school an existing parent will make contact to introduce you to other parents and answer any queries you may have. Please also feel free to speak to staff or committee members.
Notice boards can be found both in and outside pre-school and display information such as learning objectives and topics for each term, outings, committee activities, policies and procedures, inspection reports, insurance and training certificates. In addition there is a Daily Whiteboard on which we record “Today” at Pre-school and an electronic photo frame so you can view the day! Please take a moment to scan them when you are dropping off/collecting and if there is anything you require clarification on, please ask.
Children’s Displays of things the children have made or photos of what they have done are always changing around the school. Please come in and look, you’ll be amazed at what the children can do!
Lead Teacher’s letters - For specific matters such as trips the Lead Teacher will write to you and this will be given to you with your child’s art/craft work (usually placed in your child’s named drawer) when you collect them at the end of the session. You will also receive a half-termly letter from the Lead Teacher informing you of the activities and topics for each half-term.
