6th September 2010

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to pre-school September 2010

I hope you have all had a restful summer and are looking forward to a  busy term at pre-school.  I would particularly like to welcome five new three year olds; Felicity, Ben, Jacob, Emily and Eloise, and nine two year olds;  James, Alexandra, Michael, Ida, Gabriella, Florence, George, Adam and Matthew, all of whom have had an older sibling at pre-school.

This term sees the start of ‘Flexible Funding’ which has lead to an extension of session times from 9 to 12, and then an hour for lunch until 1.00pm.  The session will consist of child led activities, a cafeteria style snack of about 1 hours, a letters and sounds activity, an indoor and outdoor adult led activity and story time. Access to the garden is available at all time so please ensure your children have enough warm clothes and named wellies.

If anyone has any old saucepans, sieves or a metal tea pot that they could donate to pre-school we would be very grateful, and we can always make use of  corks, yoghurt pots and milk bottle tops.

All the children have been allocated a member of staff as their key person, a list of which is on the wall in pre-school.  Please talk to them if you have any questions or require any assistance.  The staff at pre-school this term will are me, Karen, Sophie, Vicky and Sharon.

This term is very busy regarding staff development, both Sophie and Sharon are working to obtain their NVQ level 3’s and so will be visited by their assessors on a regular basis.  On a personal note I would like to apologise that I will be absent from pre-school most Fridays and on a few other days as I start my third year at Reading University to complete a BA Hons in  Children’s learning and development, and in parallel start to work towards obtaining Early Years Professional Status.   Karen will be happy to help with any queries at these times, she and I email daily so I am sure that pre-school will continue to run smoothly but if you do need to contact me my email address is fionakbrown@NOSPAMaol.com (remove the NOSPAM when emailing)  , so please feel free to send me a message.

Please ensure that all children’s bags and spare clothes are named, especially for children who are tackling potty training!

If you have any fruit or vegetables to spare please  bring them into to pre-school for snack.

I and the rest of the staff look forward to working with you and your children over the coming months.

Fiona Brown
